Introduction to river network hydraulic modelling¶
The MIKE+ Rivers module provides a platform for building and executing one-dimensional river models for a large variety of river-related project applications.
Typical application areas for river models include river hydraulics analysis, flood analysis and alleviation design studies, real time flood or drought forecasting, ecology and water quality assessments in rivers and wetlands, and water quality forecasting, among others.
A river model in MIKE+ is described with:
- River branches
- Cross sections
- Bed roughness
- Culverts
- Weirs
- Gates
- Direct discharges
The succeeding sections provide information on the MIKE 1D river network data model and associated editors in MIKE+.
